Jan Bednar moved from the Czech Republic to the US at 17 to play hockey and go to school, started a package forwarding business in college, and founded ShipMonk in 2014 to serve small and medium e-commerce brands. He bootstrapped the company from business plan competition winnings into the largest SMB and mid-market fulfillment solution, later raising $355 million in growth equity with Summit.
