Mark Matson is founder and CEO of Matson Money. A privately owned RIA/TAMP managing $12B and more importantly, coaching 500+ advisors to become not planners, but leaders of the American Dream. He’s a six time national best selling author of the “Experiencing the American Dream - How To Invest Your Time, Energy and Money To Live An Extraordinary Life.” Mark’s book is based on the award winning two day investing workshop that he puts on for the advisors he coaches and their clients called the American Dream Experience where they have the opportunity to uncover what money means to them, what their true purpose is, realize what their American Dream is, and finally discover the science to investing. The foreword of his book was written by Rob Lowe, and is co-signed by some of the most influential and respected icons of the American Dream - Arnold Schwarzenegger, David Booth, Steve Forbes, Chip Wilson, and Gary Sinise.

Mark started Matson Money in 1991 after being an advisor for 4 years and coming to the realization that the financial industry is not set up for the average investor. He started out as a JAFP, just another financial planner, and continued to shift his clients back and forth from one fund to another based upon what his broker dealers and so called gurus were telling him to do so. He would move his clients to chase the returns and more often than not, have their money, retirements and trust with him crushed.

He stood up to his broker dealer and said what they are doing here is corrupt and they told him, “what’s the matter here? why do you care? Just sell them another fund, collect your commission and move on. Just churn and burn.” That’s when he had his flash point and had to do something for his clients. He came across an academic approach to investing in 1990 that was based upon Noble Prize winning principles from a man named Rex Sinquefield (co-founder of Dimensional Fund Advisors) which led to him starting up Matson Money in 1991.

Ever since then, it’s been Marks passion to educate people on how investing actually works and how you can reach your true purpose while investing academically. Matson Money manages their own mutual funds and has not changed their investment strategy at all since then. Mark Matson is a true believer of the science, a man of integrity, one of the most disciplined individuals when it comes to investing. Not one thing has shifted from the strategy he used in 1991 to what is being done today at Matson Money. He is one of the few that continue to fight for the investor to take down the Wall Street Bullies and fight to keep the American Dream alive.

Mark was born in Charleston, West Virginia near the coal mines, where his grandfather had worked for years living in a screen that the world is filled with misery. His dad who was a financial advisor/insurance rep instilled the power of hard work and education and had Mark start being inspired by reading Think and Grow Rich at the age of 10. Mark wanted to grow up in his father’s footsteps and become a financial advisor just like his dad and that’s exactly what he did.

Matson Money has grown to 2 offices in Cincinnati, OH and Scottsdale, AZ with over 80 employees.
